My two fields of specialization are financial economics and environmental and natural resource economics. My research interests primarily include applied microeconomics, environmental and natural resource economics, ecological economics. Currently I am working under the direct supervision of Prof. John Tschirhart and I am looking into applications of general equilibrium ecosystem models of ecology and economics into issues concering rangelands in Wyoming and the other western states.
Human actions have long affected earth's ecosystem services (the conditions and processes through which natural ecosystems, and the species that make them up, sustain and fulfill human life) and our policies are usually designed without regard to the related effects they have on natural systems around us. Choices we make as economic agents greatly influence the environment we live in.
Our objective is to use an integrated general equilibrium ecological model to better understand the interaction between human actions and natural ecosystems. We eventually want to come up with a model that will enable us to quantify the trade-offs between the various ecosystem benefits derived from a native ecosystem. We also hope that these general equilibrium models can be used to look at the effects of things like natural shocks and government policies.
